About the role

As a Senior Accounting Specialist, you will be a part of a global team responsible for the preparation of financial statements according to HGB, IFRS, or Solvency II for selected entities of ERGO Group.

As we are expanding our team into new fields, we are looking for candidates for more than one position.

How you will get the job done

• coordinating and preparing annual and quarterly financial statements as well as forecasts and plans in accordance with HGB, IFRS, and Solvency II for selected international entities of ERGO Group
• carrying out accounting variance analysis and quality assurance of the financial statements prepared in accordance with HGB, IFRS, and Solvency II
• preparing internal and external reports to the Executive Management Board, Supervisory Board, and BaFin
• acting as a contact person for auditors and tax auditors for all questions related to the annual and quarterly financial statements as well as financial plan and financial forecast
• improving existing processes in terms of security, quality, and speed as well as their documentation and assessment as part of the internal control system
• working on accounting internal and cross-divisional projects

Skills and experience you will need

• advanced level of English (B2/C1) and good level of German (B1/B2)
• completed a University Degree in Economics with a focus on financial accounting, auditing, or insurance
• very good knowledge of accounting regulations for insurance companies in accordance with national and international standards (HGB, IFRS, or Solvency II)
• proficiency in SAP, in particular FI and SEM-BCS, very good knowledge of standard Office software
• strong analytical skills and ability to analyse and communicate complex accounting issues both orally and in writing
• high level of commitment and strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with a high degree of independence and accountability
