About the role

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, administration, and daily management of DevOps-related Business Applications.

Your main tasks will include creating applications to automate and speed up common tasks performed by developer teams, such as code quality analysis and reporting, and process deviation reports. You will also provide support activities and assist developers with continuous integration and deployment.

How you will get the job done

  • monitoring and optimizing application performance, including analysis and tuning for improvements
  • migrating applications into existing data center/cloud landscape with knowledge of technologies like Windows/Linux server, virtualization, storage/backup, databases, and middleware
  • DevSecOps project consulting with developers including cost analysis/planning, code reviews, and improvements on security, performance, and automation
  • automating and scripting regular maintenance tasks or improving database calls to achieve Zero-OPS environments ideally
  • ensuring platform compliance with security and legal regulations, e.g. auditability
  • assisting with the on-call services

Skills and experience you will need

  • English language proficiency (spoken and written) at minimum B2 level
  • 3+ years of professional experience in development with Java
  • associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification
  • hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins) including transport mechanisms and processes
  • knowledge of .NET applications, ideally based on containers and with data streaming/exchange via Kafka
  • excellent knowledge of the Windows and Linux Red Hat Enterprise operating systems
  • familiarity with programming and scripting languages .NET Framework, .NET Core, NET, MVC. MVVM, VB. NET, Java, C#, AngularJS, ASMX, WCF Web Services
  • knowledge of PowerShell/DSC, ActionScript 3, CSS, HTML, XML, XSLT, Microsoft Ansible, program code reviews, relevant best practices, and tools (e.g. Dynatrace)
  • experience with MS SQL Server and T-SQL as well as virtualization aspects (e.g. VMWare)
  • ability to identify problems, and sources of problems and proactively apply solutions
  • team player, willing to share the know-how with the team
  • good communication skills

Nice to have

  • good command of the German language
  • understanding of ITSM processes, ITIL practices, and other IT standard practices/ procedures
  • experience in the concept, integration, deployment, and operation of applications in the data center and, if necessary, the cloud
  • knowledge of Application & Web Server configuration and troubleshooting like IIS, Tomcat, WebMethods, JBoss, and Kerberos
