About the role

As Legal Counsel, you will support GBS in delivering high‑quality legal expertise across outsourcing, regulatory compliance and corporate matters. You will guide the organisation through complex financial‑sector requirements, shape outsourcing arrangements, and manage key interactions with supervisory authorities. The role also covers legal support for insurance‑claim processes and cooperation with ERGO International, as well as ongoing advisory in labour and corporate law. This is an opportunity for a lawyer with strong financial‑market experience who thrives in an international, fast‑moving environment.

How you will get the job done

  • delivering comprehensive outsourcing legal support, drafting and negotiating agreements, ensuring alignment with financial‑sector regulations, and shaping risk‑allocation and service‑level frameworks
  • liaising with the financial regulator, preparing notifications and formal submissions, coordinating responses to supervisory inquiries, and supporting audits and inspections
  • coordinating insurance‑claim processes, reviewing claim documentation, advising on coverage and liability, and managing communication with insurers and internal risk teams
  • advising on labour‑law matters, supporting HR in employee‑relations topics, guiding disciplinary and termination procedures, and shaping compliant workplace policies
  • supporting corporate governance, drafting corporate resolutions, maintaining statutory records, and managing fit & proper assessments for management and supervisory bodies
  • reviewing internal policies and procedures, strengthening 2nd‑line compliance controls, ensuring adherence to sector‑specific regulatory frameworks, and supporting internal audits
  • structuring and negotiating commercial contracts, aligning contractual terms with operational needs, regulatory expectations, and Group standards
  • providing strategic legal advisory, evaluating legal and regulatory risks, defining acceptable contractual positions, and proposing negotiation strategies that balance risk and business impact
  • interpreting financial‑market regulations, advising on their operational implications, and embedding regulatory requirements into outsourcing, reporting, and business processes
  • collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders across ETS (Risk, Compliance, Data Protection, Finance), Group Legal, GBS Operations, and ERGO International to ensure aligned, compliant, and effective legal support

Skills and experience you will need

  • knowledge of insurance law or financial‑market regulation supported by a master’s degree in law
  • advanced command of English at a business level, both spoken and written
  • experience of at least 5 years in an international in‑house legal team or reputable law firm
  • understanding of outsourcing frameworks, shared‑services models and regulatory expectations of KNF and/or BaFin
  • ability to analyse complex legal issues and translate them into practical business guidance
  • capability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams
  • skill in managing stakeholder relationships and cooperating with external counsel
  • proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documentation with high attention to detail
  • readiness to assess legal risks and propose pragmatic, business‑aligned solutions
  • confidence in working independently and prioritising tasks in a dynamic environment
