Risk Management Specialist supports the Management System framework through the process of monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of controls in area of operational risk management in line with the Group’s risk management methodology.

How you will get the job done

  • implementation of regulations and standards in risk management areas in line with the Group’s ERGO risk management methodology, supervisory requirements and market best practices
  • ensuring that internal regulations relating to the Risk Management System are up to date
  • participate in the design and implementation of solutions to optimise risk management processes
  • actively support the selection of risk response strategies and participate in the opinion on optimal risk management solutions
  • supporting the cyclical identification and assessment of risks in the organisation, maintaining risk and control registers, and monitoring the implementation of risk mitigation measures
  • acting as a focal point for 1st LoD and ensuring that business managers and support functions understand their own responsibility for the risks belonging to them, by providing proactive and practical risk management advice
  • actively participate in the production of periodic risk management reports, in defined cycles and formats, including participation in selected committees
  • develop analytical tools related to the development of a system for monitoring, measuring and reporting risks in the organisation
  • deliver training and workshops on all aspects of IT and non-IT risk management
  • reporting to the Department Manager and preparing summaries and presentations for management

Skills and experience you will need

  • completed degree in business administration or economics, mathematics of business information systems, engineering or law or comparable studies
  • a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a risk management unit of a financial services company or audit/consulting firm, with a particular focus on IT risk
  • knowledge of regulatory and supervisory requirements in area of risk management
  • experience in preparing presentations and written papers for top management
  • very good analytical thinking skills and attention to detail, including the ability to understand even complex issues, critically analyse and present results and (own) conclusions in a manner appropriate to the audience
  • high level of commitment, results and performance orientation
  • very good communication and training skills, as well as confidence at all levels of the hierarchy
  • power to innovate and ability to encourage others to innovate
  • ability to make decisions and lead implementation activities
  • fluency in written and spoken English

Nice to have

  • knowledge of supervisory regulations and recommendations of the FSC and/or BaFin for the insurance market sector
  • knowledge of ISO standards from the 27001 family, 31000 and the COBIT standard
  • understanding of the IT services industry and a statement in IT risk management
  • knowledge of statistical analysis tools and risk management methodologies
  • knowledge of information security and BCM
  • experience of working in teams located in multiple locations
  • knowledge of the German language
